Why Teach Art?
Sixteen years into my life at LaGuardia, teaching art and design has become much more than a job. It is deeply satisfying to watch as students learn to give their ideas a visual form– a skill that is essential for those who are pursuing a degree in art and equally important for students who will eventually work as nurses, vets, engineers, or any of the other degrees that LaGuardia offers. No matter what field he or she plans to enter, the ability to communicate visually, to identify a problem, organize its parts into a coherent whole, and design a solution, will serve the student well.
